The short version. friendos is run by one person, Grant Eadie. There are no ads, no analytics, no trackers, and nothing is sold or shared. Your account is private: only people you accept can see your photos. You can delete everything, for good, from Settings.
Who this is
friendos is made and run by Grant Eadie, an individual in Washington State, USA. When this page says “I”, that’s me. You can reach me at hello@friendos.me.
What friendos keeps
- Your account: your email address, and a password that is stored scrambled (hashed). I can’t see your password.
- Your profile: the name and username you choose, and a bio and profile photo if you add them.
- What you post: your photos, captions and comments.
- Who you’re connected to: who you follow, who follows you, requests you’ve sent or received, and anyone you’ve blocked.
- Likes: when you double-tap a photo, the person who posted it is told. Nobody else can see it, and nothing is counted.
- Reports: if you report a person or a post, what you wrote and what it was about.
That’s all. There is no advertising ID, no location, no analytics, and no tracking across other apps or sites. friendos has no third-party tracking code in it.
Your contacts
If you let friendos check your contacts, your phone turns the email addresses in them into scrambled codes (SHA-256 hashes) and sends only those codes. The server compares them with the same codes made from existing accounts’ emails, answers with any matches, and keeps nothing. The addresses themselves never leave your phone. Nobody is told that you joined or that you looked. You can turn this off any time in your iPhone’s Settings.
Who can see what
Anyone signed in can find you by name and see your name, username, bio and profile photo. Everything else (your photos, captions, comments, and who you follow) is visible only to you and to people whose follow request you’ve accepted. This is enforced by the database, not just hidden by the app. If you block someone, they can’t find you at all.
Where it lives
Accounts, posts and photos are stored with Supabase, on servers in the United States. This website is hosted by Vercel. They store data for me and don’t use it for anything of their own. I don’t share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it, and if that ever happens I’ll tell you when I’m allowed to.
Notifications
If you allow them, notifications about activity on your account are made on your phone. You can turn them off in your iPhone’s Settings.
Deleting things
You can delete any post or comment of yours in the app. Settings > Delete account removes your account, profile, photos, posts, comments, likes and follows right away. Copies in routine backups are gone within 30 days. If you can’t get into the app, email me from the address on your account and I’ll delete it for you.
Age
friendos is for people 16 and older. If I learn that someone younger has an account, I’ll remove it.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, I’ll say so in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
